Hatsune Miku is Released to The Public!

The second voicebank for Yamaha's Vocaloid 2 software, Hatsune Miku, has finally been released to the public. Hatsune Miku, a japanese singing voice synthesizer voiced by Saki Fujita and manufactured by Crypton Media, is Crypton Media's first attempt at the software, as well as Vocaloid's third attempt at a characterized voicebank. The teal-twintailed android girl shown off was created by KEI, an artist Crypton commisioned to create a character for their voicebank codenamed "CV01" (meaning Character Voice 01). This design, along with the synthesizer as a whole, has already become a huge success for Vocaloid with 3000 preorders. To put this into perspective, the previously most popular vocaloid, MEIKO, sold 3000 units in it's lifetime. The future for this singing android is still uncertain, but from what the world has observed so far, she won't disappear for a while.

Burning Man Continues

Today marks day 4 of Burning Man, a 9 day festival that takes place in Nevada's Black Rock Desert which focuses on self-reliance, community, and art. Like every year since the festival's inception, the Black Rock City LLC has built a temporary city, servicing over 47000 people this year, filled with art installations that revolve under one theme. This year, the art theme is "The Green Man", focusing on aspects of nature and climate change. Though today is not as eventful of a day for the festival, excitement is ramping up as the burning of "The Man" commences tomorrow, legally this time. 3 days ago, "The Man" was prematurely set on fire by Paul Addis, who was arrested and sentenced with arson. Despite the illegal damper on the event, the festival still goes on strong with today's double rainbow, the Critical Titts bike ride, and many more art installations popping up across the city.
